I love reading proposal and romantic stories, especially when it’s a surprise! So when I got the chance to be involved in my brother Charles’ proposal, I was SO excited!
First, we spent around 3 months looking for the perfect engagement ring (and I got to try on lots of sparkly jewellery in the process… what’s not to love, haha!). After a loooong process of looking as my brother is very picky, we finally found ‘The One!’ in Beaverbrooks, Oxford and we could then start planning the actual proposal itself.
Charles knew that he wanted it to take place at The Shard in London from their viewing tower, on their anniversary… I never knew my brother had the romance in him, haha! So we planned that they would meet me and my partner Darran at The Shard, under the guise that we would be in London that day and fancied joining them. I am sure Madalina (my brothers partner) must have been wondering why on earth Charles had invited us along on their anniversary! We would then start photographing and filming the proposal on his cue.
When we got up to the viewing tower, we had a few false moments of panic where we thought Charles was about to propose, only to then carry on walking. And then, we walked around a corner and the most perfect flower garland arch complete with Mistletoe appeared. I was internally screaming to my brother that THIS WAS THE PLACE!! He must have got the hint from my weird eye and head gestures, and proceeded to get down on one knee and propose…. she said yes!!!
I am so happy that I got to share such a special day with my brother, and very excited to be chosen as Maid of Honour for the wedding day. Bring it on!
