A trip to Powys, Wales

So, this year I have managed to get myself a shiny new favourite person – in the form of a boyfriend, haha! We decided to go on a little trip to Wales before my crazy wedding season got into full swing.

We looked for some quirky places to stay on Canopy and Stars and found a gem of a place called ‘Under the Oak’, which was a converted train carriage… LOVE! The location itself is surrounded by beautiful scenery, amazing hills and of course the odd cow and sheep 😉

If you are looking for unusual places to stay, it’s definitely worth checking out Canopy and Stars.

The trip didn’t start off quite as planned, as we decided to go down a small dirt track to see if it lead to the venue… this resulted in my car becoming beached in said dirt track, Darran having to push my car while I revved the hell out of it, smoke pouring out of the engine to the point where I thought it would set on fire, not good!!

Luckily my trusty car managed to survive the trip (ahem… before breaking down at a roundabout a few weeks later… but that’s a whole other story!) and we had an amazing time.

Thanks to Jude and Jim for the delicious homemade cake and brownies, and the freshly baked bread. Their hospitality saved us on our first night, as by the time we arrived no shops were open. Schoolboy/city-dweller error!! The bread also came in handy, when what shall forever be known as ‘The Potato Incident’ happened. Basically, we tried to cook jacket potatoes on a bonfire, and we may have slightly overcooked them, to the point of becoming black coal, haha!

If you are looking to get away from the crazyness of the working world for a few days, we highly recommend this location (there is no signal!).

Here are a few photos from our trip 🙂
